Nationals Adelaide 2005

After what seemed like days on the road, finally Adelaide was in sight...

The MCB crew lethargically ambled their way into morning rehearsal to polish up the Hymn and Test Piece ready for the afternoon’s competition. MCB assembled outside the great Elder Hall, eager to play and showcase our wares. “Who is He” and “Tristan Encounters” worked the band hard and after all the work everyone had put in it paid off. It was a great afternoon of playing and everyone seemed happy with the performance. The band re-adjourned for an evening meal of fish and chips and a social chat.

The following day after making ourselves look fabulous the band lined up with precision for the march. Both the Inspection and street march performance of “The Cossack” went well. After rehearsal of “Rienzi”, our own choice, the band was revved up and ready to perform for the adjudicators that evening. To an evening crowd in Elder Hall the band performed both “The Cossack” and “Rienzi” to a wonderful standard. The players where happy and no matter what the results said they knew they had proved that Moreland City Band was indeed a top A grade band. The band met again at the hotel for a few celebratory drinks and to thank everyone that helped get Moreland to the Nationals.
