MCB prepares for A Grade showdown in Adelaide

Over the next two months Moreland City Band will be in serious rehearsal mode as it gears up for the National Brass Band competition. This year's titles will be held in Adelaide over the Easter break.

The band started work on its own choice, march and the very challenging A Grade test piece, Tristan Variations, late last year. A very soulful hymn has now been chosen and all these items will be the focus of band and sectional rehearsals until the conclusion of competition.

With so many new musicians, getting the band to musical standard required at the A grade level is an enormous task for musical director Walter Pope. However since the start of the new year rehearsal attendance has been high and band members appear to be relishing the challenge posed by the complex and technically demanding music to be performed.
